Lousiana
We found this sweet lake in Louisiana and had to stop. It was or first introduction to no-swim lakes though: we were in alligator country now.
Alabama
USS Alabama Battleship Memorial had a lot more than just the ship.
Florida
This swamp in Northwestern Florida was amazing. Met a couple guys there who taught us how to go frog gigging.
Florida
Ochopee, Fl has the smallest US Post Office. We had more room in the van.
Florida
We took the dogs kayaking through the mangrove in Key West. We learned the hard way about all the jellyfish in the water.
North Carolina
Nantahala National Forest was incredible. Water, mountains, and almost noone around.
Tennessee
Best meal of the whole trip was here at Hattie B’s in Nashville. No chicken like hot chicken.
Tennessee
We made a stop in Maryville, Tennessee for a movie at the drive in. Locals were super friendly and we hung out before the movie started.
West Virginia
Steep backcountry roads were even more fun in the fog.
Maryland
The horses at Assateague Island National Seashore decided our campsite would be theirs for the night too.
Nova Scotia
Add Cape Breton to your bucket list.
Québec
The Gaspé Peninsula is way bigger than it looks on a map. We found this sweet spot right on the water and made friends with some locals who camped next to us - they gave us some tips on must-see spots.
North Dakota
Big sky country here. Just us, some otters, birds, coyotes, and a lot of mosquitoes.
North Dakota
Biggest bug we saw the whole trip! This grasshopper was part of the Enchanted Highway on our way to the badlands.
North Dakota
Teddy Roosevelt National Park was incredible. The badlands made for some awesome views.
South Dakota
My favorite view of Mount Rushmore was actually off highway 244 from the South. George Washington’s bust just appears as you come around this blind turn.
Colorado
Sue climbed her first 14er, Mt. Evans, in Colorado. She cruised right up no problem. We felt gassed quick when we went for a hike.
Washington
Wouldn’t be a fun story if something didn’t go wrong. We had some issues in Idaho and Washington with our clutch and shifter. Luckily, we got things squared away and back on the road.
Nevada
These hot springs were exactly what we needed. Relaxing stop in Northern Nevada.
Nevada
These salt flats were a lot of fun for us and the dogs. We tried drag racing down the flats, but the flats are softer than they look. Even with the beefed up pistons, we were struggling to break 50.
